I notice the Ring/probabilities state there is a 0% chance of finding the rings randomly. So how do you get a Ring of Haggler or a Ring of Thorns?
Thanks

In case of random generation (for a given floor) or random drop (see Gnoll shaman#Drop detail or Dwarf warlock#Drop detail), when the type of ring is not forced, they will never be generated (0 % in the table). However they still can be specifically dropped, respectively by Crazy thief and DM-300.
Technically, instead of calling:
Dungeon.level.drop(Generator.random(Generator.Category.RING).random(), pos).sprite.drop();
(which would generate random ring following the Ring/probabilities table, but no enemy does that), Crazy thief calls:
Dungeon.level.drop(new RingOfHaggler().random(), pos).sprite.drop();
when he dies (the .random()
calls selects the ring level according to the Ring/random table).
It’s the same thing than Potions of Strength/Might and Scrolls of (Weapon) Upgrade, which have a 0 % probability of generation through Generator.random(Generator.Category.<enum type>)
but still can be specifically created with new <classname>()
.
Haggler is insanely useful as it drops costs by 50%. Makes getting pots etc rather cheap :)
See Ring of Thorns. When an enemy hits you, it deflects some of the damage back to the attacker (somewhere between 0
to damageTaken
).
Unfortunately that ring is currently was undroppable due to a bug.
Oh.. Wait; So the bug for Lloyd's Beacon has been fixed, but not the bug for Ring of Thorns?

1/100 (for both crazy theif and crazy bandit). If you want to know more info like that, you can look it up in the info boxes on the relevant pages.
