  • This may be a stretch reaching you, but the mod is almost complete! I have tested it on my device (the only way I can test it), and none of the items degrade! However, this is on Pixel Dungeon v 1.9.1 since that was the last update that was sent to Github. I should be able to publicize this soon after I create a few changes. This has been quite the learning experience, and I hope you will have some enjoyment from it! I know I will!

  • Hello!

    A group of Pixel Dungeon players from the /r/PixelDungeon subreddit and Discord have noticed that the wiki is looking a little..down. Imessage you to voice our opinion and concern. Some users have taken to believe that you and the other moderator are inactive, and while this may be the case, I was hoping that you may still see this message.

    I was wondering if I could ask to become a moderator/admin on the wiki, simply so that I would be allowed to make pages to the home screen of the wiki, as well as any other page that may not be accessible to the normal user. I know that most pages are accessible to the normal user, but I would like to have access to the first homepage of the wiki, so that I may post when the wiki has been updated (etc).

    Please consider my request as I await your reply.

  • Let's face it, the community is dead in the water.

    I look at the activity tab, and everything in the last ten days, sans mod pages, is just vandalism or anons being obnoxiously rude. Maybe we should consider protecting any main game pages (since those aren't going anywhere), and just utterly paving the forums of these awful gits. Ok, the latter might be a bit much, but WOW I have never considered dropping a banhammer so fast before, and I don't even have one to drop!

    Kehehe, I'd be suprised if you even read this. Best of luck in your exploits, friend.

  • Hey, Shadow, long time no see. Hehehe... [Sorry about that.]

    But anyways, I've been mulling over something for a bit now.

    Apparently, you don't know who you're talking to, or you wouldn't be speaking so carelessly as you already have. [...] Papayaman1000 is a veteran contributor.

    If that was the first thing I saw in a community, I'd have one reaction: Run. Run and never look back.

    Look, I appreciate you handling the situation, but let's maybe shy away from statements that imply long-time users are any more deserving of respect than anyone else. I know you probably didn't mean anything by it [and you were probably just referring to your own status as an admin], but let's try really hard to not insinuate something like that.

    Yes, there's a hierarchy on this wiki. It's the hierarchy of bureaucracy, made up of our friendly admins and such. We don't need anything past that, and definitely don't need to imply we do/already have that.

    That's all.

      You mean *talk*?

      Indeed.

      [Sorry about that.]

      No apologies necessary; you're a busy man - you clarified that multiple times.
      Besides, we agreed in our last communiqué that we'd touch base in summer & you'd update me on whether or not you'd be able to rejoin us in KHUX.
      I haven't forgotten - I'm merely waiting until then.

      If that was the first thing I saw in a community, I'd have one reaction: Run. Run and never look back.

      <Sardonicism>*Snort*  Well, it's not like there's much of a community left (if any) to run away from, anyway</Sardonicism>; so nothing of value was really lost from banning such an offender/toxic individual.
      (Everyone else who's new has been protected & remain largely unaffected, since they haven't done anything that <Sardonicism>warrants such a response.</Sardonicism>)

      ...let's maybe shy away from statements that imply long-time users are any more deserving of respect than anyone else.
      ...let's try really hard to not insinuate something like that.

      That was not what I was implying at all.
      (I likely should've used *verified* contributor, rather than 'veteran'.)

      ...

      This is where I highly disagree with you, and is quite likely the very reason this issue occurred in the first place.

      Here's why:

      If passerbys/anonymous contributors on this wiki weren't investigative enough to click on our profiles, to discover that some of us are indeed Admins, they would never know we're Admins in the first place (as was the case for me, around the time I started visiting this wiki), unless others spoke up for us, because this wiki's forum lacks something that other website forums (& chat rooms) have, and it's the Admin/Moderator/et c. tag beside the names of those who are one, whenever leaving a post/comment.

      The very presence of such tags alone, act as a visual/psychological deterrent for behavior such as what we've recently experienced here - a policing of sorts.  This has clearly been evident on other forums I've quietly observed.
      And since that very system is not in place here, it opens the way for wanton disrespect & toxicity - toxicity that was largely absent back when I was more actively policing our wiki/the forum, than I am now.
      [See:  Broken Windows Theory]
      I said what I said out of defense for a community member, for one of our own, for you - as is my duty as the Forum Admin.
      If it had only been me that he called that name, I likely wouldn't have said anything further & just informed him he was being banned, before promptly proceeding to do so; but the moment he included you in his toxicity was the final straw.
      An example had to be made.
      And that is all the thought I gave on the matter.

      Granted, I could've worded/phrased things better (as an Admin normally would/should have), but like I said to you in that thread, I was in complete Zero-Tolerance mode by then - I was not having it.
      (Hulk + Mjolnir = Bye!)

      I'll try to do better & be more level-headed/patient next time (if I'm still here fulfilling my Admin duties by then); can't promise/guarantee this will never happen again, though - but I will try.

      Thank you for raising your concern(s), though; your input has been gratefully taken into consideration.

      Cheers.

      Yeah, an admin tag would be infinitely useful. But Wikia... er, Fandom [ugh] being what it is, that means that we're certain to never get it.

      <rant>

      [Seriously, why does Wikia seem to insist that fans of *everything* owe them a bunch? Yeah, it's easier to set up a bog-standard wiki, but all they've really done is created a crappy BuzzFeed thing, named the one good thing about the network after it, and gave a huge middle finger to any wikis that already exist, such as official Curse wikis, official Valve wikis, the much-better Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance, and any other fan projects that have much merit. Because, oh yeah, I totally prefer some fiery Demon Hall made and "maintained" by a bored 8-year-old! Why wouldn't I, it's through that crappy article site!]

      </rant>

      And, just... I do appreciate you standing up for me, and even moreso the community. I just want to avoid sounding like we're one of those obnoxious communities where admins at the beck and call of older users. Even proto-admin powers are something that should be earned by demonstrating an ability and a desire to use them properly; I think that's an important facet of any welcoming community, and we should do our best to give off the impression that we care.

      Always nice talking with you.

  • Sorry if I'm bugging you again, I just started a new run and have found 7 healing potions in the first 3 floors (4 on depth 1) and was wondering if this is a glitch (I'm not complaining haha) because evem though the potion of healing is supposed to be "relatively common" and found at almost every depth, isn't 7 a bit much?

    • Depends on where/how you found them.
      You could very well have just gotten lucky.
      You'd need to tell me the exact details on how/where you obtained them, for me to be able to identify whether or not it's truly a bug.

  • Hello, it's been a while since the last time I was on the wiki. Sorry for long post.

    I'm currently at depth 11 with a Gladiator. I'm using a +3 Blazing knuckleduster and still have +2 leather armor of bounce. I found a +0 sword and +0 longsword in the Prison stage. I wasted 2 upgrade scrolls on repairing the knuckleduster when I didn't keep track of the degradation and on the leather armor (I know I shouldn't have). So this means I have 2 less upgrade scrolls than expected and the KD needs higher levels to work well lategame, but the +3 has been working reasonably well in stage 2 and it beat Tengu with no health potions, just liquid flame and honeypot.

    Should I keep using the knuckleduster or start upgrading the sword or longsword (current strength only 14 so it will take more upgrades to get the strength level down)?

    • You're probably right that the shopkeeper needs to be wiped out first, but in that article it mentions getting the item "for free" which would imply that without the Wand of Reach the item would have to be paid for.

      Once the shopkeeper is wiped out items are free anyway regardless whether or not the Wand is used, so if it is the case that the tip requires the wipe out first, using the Wand on a shop item would be just like picking it up for free and there would be no reason to call it a "tip".

      Thanks for the help on the caves stage, am now at D17 with +2 longsword and +1 plate armor (believe it or not I actually found four plate armors in the Caves) and 2 healing potions. Would it be worth it to keep going or is it best to die for Hero's Remains?

      1.)  Remember that I only used the 'Scroll of Wipe Out' as a hypothetical - an example;
      and specifically stated that I've no idea what, if any, the unmentioned condition would be - it could be anything else.
      2.)  I also stated that it could be a troll-edit, so the post itself could've been written in such a way as to throw others off, like it may already have with you.
      3.)  Please reread my previous response to you, as I don't like repeating myself any more than I already have.
      4.)  Please tell me what you really want accomplished here with that "tip"; if it's removal that you want, please see #3.

      Thanks for the help on the caves stage,;

      Sure thing!

      Depends on everything else you've found along the way.
      Depending on what you've amassed along the way, you could get far with very little.
      You should've found more Upgrade scrolls & upgraded your Longsword even further, as I've already advised. (Unless you were using them to repair your equipment?)
      I would also recommend having the Troll Blacksmith fuse two of those Plate Armor together into a +2 Plate Armor (only after they've degraded just until before becoming broken), and use the remaining two as back-up for when the +2 Plate Armor begins to degrade, and you're in-between Upgrade/Enchantment scrolls to repair it with.
      Beyond that, I'd have to know everything else in your Backpack/Scroll Holder/Seed Pouch/Wand Holster to be able to answer that question & help you out; otherwise, it's ultimately up to you.
      Please also remember that I've no actual experience in Degradation Management, so I'm unable to help you beyond repeating to you what's already stated on the wiki, and providing theoretical solutions to hypothetical scenarios based off the provided information.

      For future reference, contributors are able to move their own threads to the appropriate board, if they accidentally placed it under the wrong one.
      Simply click/tap the "More" drop-down button at the bottom-right corner of your thread post, then click/tap "Move this thread".
      A drop-down box will appear for you to select the appropriate board; and once you've selected, simply click/tap "Move thread", and voila.  =)
